These next weeks are going to be unstable as heck. So far modulation of the frequency is remaining the same.
What numbers to watch is probably PS4 and XBONE number dips because those... those are going to contain permanent losses of people who traded their old box in for a new one. |

I am sure IWS will be able to explain to you that 12,000 people leaving this MMO is not that big of a deal and that this game is a AAA game stuck in a Lobby FPS body, and that some day SoonGäó it will break out of its shell and be a great AAA MMO FPS RPG game.
I am sure you're too much of an idiot to explain anything to about numbers, games, and why I predict that GTA online is going to go the way of Metal Gear Solid Online. Enjoy your 16 player lobbied/instanced 'MMO' (though hackers have claimed to have bumped the number to 32; and yes the game is already hacked seems to be no hot coffee this time around) |

Hey he started that argument. From what I understand about the online aspect about GTA Online is that it is only as persistent as diablo 3 is, which is contained to character. In other words if you delete your character, your presence in that world goes with you all your accomplishments, establishments and the sorts gone nothing survives you or becomes a permanent or temporary scar anywhere. This is probably why Diablo and Borderlands have been regarded as meta-mmos instead of full fledge sorts. The rest is mostly Go to place A or B, do traditional style mmo missions such as cap 5 fools playin around your corner, and team death match. Oh and level up.
Oh and Golf (which btw was stupid amounts of fun in Halo Reach/4) |

I know someone should start one of these threads when right after downtime.
It should be titled
only 26 players dusting just now
Also boxing players into small rooms is not a bad thing to be honest. Makes the game feel full even when your populations start dipping into the sub 1k. |

CHICAGOCUBS4EVER wrote:the numbers right now are not representative of anything aside from possibly EU numbers.
what im more curious in is the numbers of people that log on to collect their free sp and then go play another game.
factor that in as well as non eve-related players. then publish those stats...
Those people are only counted for the time they're logged in though so they don't tick up or tick down that much and since server API like only reports every ... 15 minutes? They're contribution is in and out and not seen on the graph influence as much.
Also we're up today on population over yesterday. |

Just sayin'
Yeah I hear ya, Context is a bit far ways off. I just wished they had committed to such update cycles during the beta. |

I don't see where people are getting the 9k number, we never had that high during the beta of dust only players. Also API errors are fairly common. Like last month the website was plagued with weird down spikes that did nothing to disrupt the overall waveform whereas oh say a server offline error causes a significant decline in the waveform. Either way 66% loss rate is far better than the 90% loss rate of planetside 2.
As for the effects of GTA Online content consumption rate puts its lifespan at 2 months after launch with no updates, thats the hardcore bunch, casuals typically take anywhere from 2x to 4x longer. Also since nothing in GTA Online is pressing or 'really plays on' without the character logged in its possible if the players know of the fact that then they may not dedicate as much time to the game as a traditional mmo would normally demand.
The other weird thing is that other people have to be loaded into your GTA online instance. Or if they get loaded into your instance it could turn ugly if eve online is any good indicator of social interaction as one puts it 'we're just looking for gud fights but not find'n any,' may just kill the game due to apprehension if losing becomes a big deal.
Games like BF4 has about 4-6 months content because the tedious amount of grinding required (at least its a fun grind) and overall there is no perception of end game in BF so players will play on. Similar to how CoD prestige mode somewhat works it eliminates the end game syndrome by simply reintroducing beginning game content back over again. This is why these games can remain highly popular until the next sequel. Halo 4 recently jumped on the bandwagon while you don't get any special gear or weapons or the sorts you do get pretty looking armor and the sorts. |

I have a 1999 toyota that the previous owner did not ever change the oil on and it consumes oil while running, the catalytic converted just got ruined now I could sell you. |

Did you get an early access to GTA Online or perhaps you're a fortune teller and can see into the future? I
This is based on industry standards and then the numeration Rockstar has given out so far. It's pretty damn stupid to oh say make a 20 hour mission right? Though knowing rockstar they hate the idea of a dumb mission that takes only 1 minute to complete. There is a sweet spot time known and throw that against a hard core gamer average time span you get 2 months of content without updates. Rockstar promises to do updates however. |
